Art Education in DeLand

This school year, your student won’t just be heading back to reading, writing and arithmetic. There’s a whole world of art education waiting to be explored, right here in DeLand!

Just keep reading for a closer look.

Stetson University Youth String Orchestra

Maybe your child is showing an interest in music. Or maybe they already have a favorite instrument, but don’t quite have a place to practice regularly. Either way, Stetson University has them covered.

We’re not talking about college enrollment yet! The school offers community classes that can be taken by kids who are still in school. Taught by current Stetson students, the Youth String Orchestra is the perfect place to hone existing skills and develop new techniques. And because it meets Tuesday nights, this class (which is open to all experience levels) offers families a chance to integrate arts education into their schedules with ease… no lengthy travel time or time commitments necessary.

Family Fun at Museum of Art – DeLand

Even younger kids can show off their artistic flair at the Museum of Art – DeLand’s Family Fun Saturdays! On select Saturdays every month, you and your child can come in for arts and crafts education and practice. You’ll learn, in real time, the processes behind seasonally-themed creations worth bringing home… and the best part? The class is generously offered for free, so anyone can enjoy an experience taught by one of Florida’s leading art museums.

Glassic Arts Glass Classes

For a new kind of art class, consider heading over to Glassic Arts! While they sell materials for stained glass work, this spot also offers a wide variety of classes for you to hone (or discover) your passion for glass art. You can learn about cutting glass or creating blown glass ornaments, beautiful and perfect for the upcoming holiday season!

DeLand is a city that’s built on artistic and cultural roots… so it’s no wonder that we see those same qualities reflected in education around the city! Enjoy these opportunities and more, this school year and beyond.
